Everything You Want to Know About Pretty Focused (Before You Enroll)

We get it.
If you’re considering joining Pretty Focused Food Blog Photography, you probably have questions and you should.

When you’re making a real investment in your future, you deserve straight answers. So we’ve gathered the most common questions women ask before joining Pretty Focused and answered them here.

No hype. No fluff. Just facts.

Cost & Investment

How much does the program cost?

Pretty Focused Food Blog Photography is $2,997 and includes lifetime access to the course, 12 months of coaching and access to the Buyers Club when you graduate. And yes, we do have payment plan options available.

I’m in Canada. How does the exchange rate affect the price?

You can expect to pay roughly 30–35% more in Canadian dollars due to exchange rates. We have several students (and bloggers) based in Canada.

What’s the return on investment?

Our results speak for themselves: 69% of graduates working 20+ hours per week earn $50,000 or more annually. And no, that’s not a typo.

Does Pretty Focused take a commission in the Buyers Club?

Nope. You keep 100% of what you earn. All payments come directly to you.

Gear & Equipment

Can I use my phone for photos?

We love a good smartphone camera, but you’ll need a DSLR or mirrorless camera to meet client standards and pass your portfolio review.

Is my current camera good enough?

Almost certainly. Entry-level cameras like the Canon Rebel T7 or Sony A6000 are great starting points. You don’t need to buy top-of-the-line gear to start. Check out our recommended gear here.

What if I don’t have good natural light?

No problem. Our main course teaches natural light, but we offer both flash and continuous artificial light masterclasses for additional purchase.

Time & Progress

How long does it take to graduate?

Most students graduate in approximately six months, depending on how much time they dedicate each week. Some finish faster; others take longer — and that’s okay. We provide a six month graduation plan to help you stay on track.

How many hours a week should I plan for?

Plan on 8–12 hours per week to make consistent progress. You can learn and practice on your own schedule.

Is there a clear path to passing portfolio review?

Absolutely. Every student started with an Orientation Call that will share exactly what to expect. We also provide a step-by-step roadmap with clear objectives and feedback. You’ll know exactly what’s expected, no guessing what coaches “like.”

Coaching & Community

Is the community too big to get personal feedback?

No way. While our community is large, it’s carefully organized to ensure you get individualized feedback from coaches and peers. Your work will be seen, supported, and improved.

What if I get stuck?

That’s what our coaching and community are for. You’ll get real-time help, practice recipe reviews, and step-by-step support from experts and fellow students.

How does Pretty Focused stay current?

We constantly update lessons to reflect industry trends — including artificial lighting, Reels, keyword strategy, and short-form video training to help you stay relevant in the food blogging world.

Clients & the Buyers Club

How does the Buyers Club work?

Think of it as a private job board connecting graduates and food bloggers. Bloggers post paid work; grads post portfolios and apply directly. There’s no middleman and no commission.

Do I need a social media following to get clients?

Nope! You don’t need followers or fancy reels to get hired. Clients hire based on your portfolio, not your social media presence.

What if I post my portfolio and don’t get sales right away?

Our coaches and community will help you tweak your listings, improve your presentation, and position your work to sell. No one is left behind.

How much can I earn — and how fast?

Most photographers earn $100–$300 per recipe depending on complexity and client. Some grads have made back their course investment within their first month.

What if I can’t photograph certain foods for personal or religious reasons?

That’s perfectly fine. Many photographers specialize in specific niches (gluten-free, vegan, kosher, etc.) and build loyal client bases doing exactly that.

Results & Reality

Is the market oversaturated?

No. Food blogging keeps growing and food bloggers can’t do it all alone. Many hire multiple photographers to keep up with content demand.

What makes Pretty Focused different?

Pretty Focused isn’t just a course. It’s:

  • Training that teaches you exactly what bloggers want
  • Coaching to refine your skills and confidence
  • Clients ready to hire you through the Buyers Club

You don’t just learn, you build a business.
